Warfare in the Workplace: When Your Calling Feels Attacked

You know those weeks where everything feels harder than it should? Emails lost, accidentally missing deadlines, sick children, discouragement around every corner. Or maybe your minivan engine blows up the week your kids are supposed to start summer camp, and you were planning months in advance to work on your business rebrand and website during that time… Yeah? Me too. 🙋🏾‍♀️Sometimes things happen because of the decisions we’ve made, or life is lifin’, or because it rains on the just and unjust… and sometimes we have to be reminded that our real battle isn’t against flesh and blood… or the many hoops we feel like we are constantly jumping through.

If you feel like you’re in jumping through hoops and getting tired… I see you. And here’s just a reminder of what to hold onto when the calling on your life feels under fire:

1. Root yourself in the Source.
Let’s be clear - the source is Jesus. Root yourself in Jesus. Your identity isn’t in how many people sign up, click, or applaud—it’s anchored in the One who has called you. May you cast your cares on the One who can make our burdens lighter. (Now, take a deep breathe and let’s thank Jesus for that truth).

2. Guard your heart with truth.
When lies creep in—thoughts like “you’re not cut out for this”, “you’re failing”, or “there’s not enough room at the table for you” —it’s easy to start believing them. But the truth is bigger than the doubt. The truth is bigger than your feelings. And even though that is easier said than done, let’s take those moments as invitations to anchor ourselves in Scripture and the promises God has already spoken over our lives. So, let’s guard our hearts. Call out the lie and replace it with truth. Say the truth aloud. Write it down. Meditate on it. This isn’t just about “positive thinking” or self-help, it’s about standing firm in the truth that God’s calling on your life is real, and He equips you to walk it out, even when it feels hard.

3. Let others hold your arms up.
Just like Moses needed Aaron and Hur to lift his arms when he grew tired (Exodus 17), we all need support when the battle feels heavy. It’s not a sign of weakness—it’s a recognition that God often works through community. Who has God placed around you? What friends, mentors, or colleagues who can encourage, pray, and remind you of your calling when discouragement creeps in? And if you feel like you are lacking in the community department… then I have good news for you friend. Bring this desire and longing for community to our Father and expectantly wait and watch for Him to provide Aaron and Hurs into our lives and be the Aaron’s and Hurs to those around us.

Friend, your labor isn’t wasted—even when it feels like you’re swimming upstream. You’re not alone in the fight, and the One who called you is faithful. I’m cheering you on. Let’s keep running the race.🫶🏾
